2.27. Drive belts - check, adjustment and replacement

1. For the drive of units belts of wedge-shaped section are used.
2. The quantity of the belts established on the car depends on type of the engine and on a car complete set. The belt drive is provided for the generator, the pump of cooling liquid, the compressor of the conditioner and the power steering.

3. The condition of belts is checked to the touch and survey (having lit belts with a small lamp). Check existence of peeling of the rubber pasted slip on both parties of a basis to basis anguish belts on end faces of a tape of a belt, hardening, damages of a surface of a belt (cracks, a separation and wear of paths, see a photo). Check also existence of wear and vitrification of material of a belt owing to which on a belt luster is observed. Overwind a belt and examine on both sides.
4. Check a belt tension. At distance between centers of pulleys from 170 to 280 mm the deflection of a belt has to be about 6 mm. If this distance from 300 to 400 mm, then a deflection there have to be about 13 mm (photo).
5. For adjustment of a tension special devices (photo) are provided.
6. For adjustment it is necessary to release bolts of fastening of the unit and to move the unit, having pulled a belt (or to rotate an adjusting bolt). Tighten boats of fastening and check a tension. If the tension is normal, then tighten bolts of fastening (photo). The tension of a gear belt is regulated by movement of a roller of a natyazhitel.

7. It is recommended to change all belts at the same time.
